Surface Diamond Driller (NE Victoria Region)

Dart Mining are seeking interested local area personnel (Wodonga & Albury Districts) to help us build a strong exploration team to explore the NE Victoria region. Dart holds a commitment to establishing and supporting local business.

We currently have one Surface Diamond Driller position available.

This position requires; applicants to be fit, well-grounded with a strong safety focus in various outdoor and remote work environments. Activities are sometimes carried out in extreme weather conditions and any candidate will need to take this into account when assessing their own suitability for the position.

The Victorian Government has mandated all workers in the mining and exploration industry be vaccinated against Covid-19 from the 15th of October 2021. Applicants that have not received at least one dose of a Covid-19 vaccine by this date will unfortunately not be successful for this role.

Dart Mining are seeking an experienced diamond driller to work on our small footprint diamond drill rig on projects throughout north-eastern Victoria.

Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience Drilling on surface Diamond Drill Rigs
  • C Class driver’s license at a minimum.
  • MR/HR truck license (desirable)
  • Certificate II or above in Drilling Operations.
  • Be comfortable and capable of undertaking typical diamond drilling operations associated with mineral exploration in remote areas.
  • Demonstrate dedication to operating with a high level of safety.
  • Current First Aid/CPR.

The Successful Candidate will:

  • Reside in Victoria or southern NSW,
  • A resident of the Albury-Wodonga Region or North – Eastern Victoria will be considered as desirable.
  • Be able to pass a pre-employment medical / drug test.

Work will be carried out predominantly from our Field Camps in North-East Victoria requiring the successful applicant to be away from home for periods of time. The roster will be 10/4 with periods of time where the team will work a normal working week (5/2) depending on the nature of the drilling program.

  • A great team environment and the potential to upskill with On the Job training.

Field Assistant – Geology (NE Victoria Region)

  • Field Assistant – Geology

The position requires applicants to be fit, well-grounded with a strong safety focus in various outdoor and remote work environments. Activities are sometimes carried out in extreme weather conditions and any candidate will need to take this into account when assessing their own suitability for the position.

The roles will entail active participation in the geological exploration programs including:

Duties of Field Assistants – Geology

  • Field Mapping and Soil/Rock sampling programs
  • Operating and maintaining field equipment
  • Supporting drilling programs
  • Assisting in drilling and sampling on drill rigs
  • Assisting to establish and maintain supporting Mobile camps
  • Overseeing earthworks and rehabilitation including applying weed control practices

The Successful Candidates will:

  • Be a resident of the Albury-Wodonga Region
  • Ideally have prior experience in a field-based role
  • Be comfortable and capable of undertaking typical fieldwork associated with mineral exploration in remote areas
  • Have a manual (C Class) driver’s licence
  • Have a HR Licence or above (preferred)
  • Be computer literate, with competence with the Microsoft Office suite a minimum
  • Demonstrate dedication to operation with a high level of safety

Work will be carried out predominantly from our Field Camps and yard in North-East Victoria requiring the successful applicant to be away from home for periods of time.

The work will be physically demanding with extended periods of operation in hot and cold conditions where lifting and carrying backpack loads may be required.  Dart Mining recognises the physical demands required for the role and offers commensurate remuneration to successful applicants.

Junior or Project Geologist (NE Victoria Region)

  • Junior or Project Geologist

The position requires applicants to be fit, well-grounded with a strong safety focus in various outdoor and remote work environments. The roles will entail active participation in the geological exploration programs including

Duties of Junior or Project Geologist – Geology

Reporting to the Head of Exploration; this position is responsible for assisting in the development of exploration projects, and providing technical assistance in the planning and implementation of exploration programs throughout Dart’s portfolio.

Duties

  • Supervision of drilling and sampling activities on Diamond, RC and RAB drill rigs.
  • Geological and structural logging of exploration drill core and chips.
  • Assist in the planning, management and execution of exploration activities within the company’s projects
  • Integration and interpretation of geoscientific data-sets including geology, geophysics, geochemistry and remote sensing
  • Field-based geological mapping, soil and rock sampling and reconnaissance activities
  • Actively encourage and demonstrate a culture of safety leadership and excellence.

The Successful Candidate will:

  • Possess Tertiary Qualification or higher in the field of Geology.
  • Ideally have prior experience in a field-based exploration role but Graduate Geologists are encouraged to apply
  • Have a solid understanding of geological techniques and methodologies.
  • Be highly computer literate, with competence with GIS software (QGIS) and Microsoft Office suite a minimum; Exposure to geological databases and/or Micromine well regarded
  • Have a manual (C Class) driver’s licence
  • Be comfortable and capable of undertaking typical geological fieldwork associated with mineral exploration in remote areas;
  • Demonstrate dedication to operating with a high level of safety leadership.

Exploration Camp Manager/Cook (NE Victoria Region)

  • Exploration Camp Manager/Cook

The position requires applicants to be fit, well-grounded with a strong safety focus in various outdoor and remote work environments. Activities are sometimes carried out in extreme weather conditions and any candidate will need to take this into account when assessing their own suitability for the position.

Duties of Exploration Camp Manager/Cook (10pax) – Support Services

  • Organising and running a remote camp including food preparation, cooking duties and camp maintenance
  • Organise supplies or routine delivery of required consumables
  • Arranging suitable menus to ensure nutritional balance and adequate energy for the work shifts
  • Cleaning duties of the kitchen, accommodation room, Laundry and common areas to ensure the camp is kept hygienic and tidy at all times
  • Ensure meals meet all health, hygiene and quality standards as well as the teams needs and satisfaction
  • Ensure meals are delivered in a timely manner in line with the team’s daily requirements
  • Set-up and tear down camp
  • Other adhoc duties as required

Preference for experience in commercial cooking or making meals for up to 10pax. Current First Aid, Food Safety Hygiene certificates highly regarded.

Diamond Drill Offsider (NE Victoria Region)
